Ruben engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the boys "for many years", and children had previously become sick the next day.

The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, for good reason.

The prosecutor stated the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson called the police again.
